What happens after you submit — the 7-step BC buyer journey

Buying a home in BC involves seven checkpoints — pre-approval under OSFI B-20, DORTS disclosure with your REALTOR®, live MLS® search, offer with standard subjects (financing, inspection, and — for strata units — the Form B — Strata Information Certificate), Subject Removal, deposit, and closing with your lawyer. Common line items you'll budget for include the Property Transfer Tax (with the First Time Home Buyers' Program exemption if eligible), GST New Housing Rebate on new builds, and the 2-5-10 Home Warranty on new construction.
