Whistler sits within a humid continental to alpine climate zone, shaped by its position in the Coast Mountains at elevations ranging from roughly 670 metres in the valley to over 2,000 metres on its twin peaks. Winters are snowy and relatively mild by mountain standards, with valley temperatures typically ranging from around -8°C to +3°C between December and February. The higher alpine terrain receives some of the most substantial snowfall in British Columbia, regularly accumulating 10 to 12 metres annually at upper elevations. Occasional Arctic outflow events can push temperatures significantly lower and bring biting winds through the valley corridor. Summers in Whistler are pleasant and comparatively dry, with valley temperatures generally ranging from 10°C to 25°C between June and August, occasionally reaching the low 30s during heat events. The region experiences a noticeable wet-to-dry seasonal transition, with spring bringing lingering precipitation before a drier summer sets in. Wildfire smoke from interior BC fires can drift into the valley during July and August, temporarily reducing air quality.
