About Harris Green
Harris Green is a compact urban sub-neighbourhood situated in the heart of Victoria, occupying a roughly rectangular area generally bounded by Fort Street to the south, Pandora Avenue to the north, Cook Street to the east, and Quadra Street running through its western fringe. It sits just east of the downtown core and Centennial Square, immediately west of the Fernwood neighbourhood, placing it at a natural transition point between Victoria's commercial centre and its established residential districts. Johnson Street and Yates Street serve as key east-west corridors threading through the area, reinforcing its close connection to downtown activity.
Harris Green is defined almost entirely by its vertical, urban housing character, making it one of Victoria's more densely developed residential sub-areas. The neighbourhood is dominated by mid-rise and high-rise condominium towers, many of which were built from the 1980s onward, with continued redevelopment adding newer purpose-built rental and strata buildings in more recent decades. Older low-rise apartment blocks and a smaller number of heritage-influenced walk-up buildings add some variety to the streetscape, while ground-floor commercial uses integrated into newer towers give the area a mixed-use feel. The overall character is distinctly urban and established, with ongoing infill contributing a redeveloping quality in pockets. Active listings reflect a mixed bedroom range, from studio and one-bedroom suites to larger multi-bedroom condominiums, with pricing that varies considerably depending on building age, floor level, and finishes.
