Sun Peaks sits at elevations ranging from roughly 1,200 to over 2,000 metres in the interior highlands northeast of Kamloops, giving it a cool continental alpine climate with strong sub-boreal influences. Winters are long, cold, and reliably snowy, with temperatures typically ranging from around -5°C to -15°C, occasionally dipping below -20°C during Arctic outflow events. The resort area receives substantial annual snowfall, often exceeding 5 metres at upper elevations, and the cold, dry interior air generally keeps precipitation in solid form throughout the season, with freezing rain remaining relatively uncommon compared to coastal or valley communities. Summers at Sun Peaks are short but pleasant, with daytime temperatures commonly reaching 20°C to 26°C and cool nights reflecting the elevation. Precipitation is modest in summer, though afternoon convective thunderstorms are not unusual.
