Sicamous is a small district municipality located in the Shuswap region of British Columbia's Southern Interior, positioned at the confluence of Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake along the Trans-Canada Highway corridor. Winters are cold and moderately snowy, with average temperatures typically ranging from around -10°C to 2°C between December and February. Snowfall is common but variable, as the community occupies a valley corridor that can funnel Arctic outflow events, occasionally driving temperatures significantly below seasonal norms. Freezing rain and ice fog episodes occur periodically, particularly when mild Pacific air overrides colder valley air masses. Summers in Sicamous are warm and relatively dry, with average temperatures generally ranging from 18°C to 30°C between June and August. The area receives most of its precipitation during spring and early winter, while July and August tend to be the driest months. Like much of the Southern Interior, Sicamous is increasingly affected by wildfire smoke during summer, which can reduce air quality and visibility for extended periods.
