Winters are mild at lower elevations, with average temperatures typically ranging from 1°C to 7°C, though mountain slopes receive substantial snowfall that supports ski operations at nearby Cypress, Grouse, and Seymour mountains. Rainfall dominates at sea level from November through March, and the area is occasionally subject to Arctic outflow events that channel cold, dry air through mountain passes, temporarily dropping temperatures well below freezing and creating hazardous conditions on roads and bridges. Summers in North Vancouver are warm and relatively dry, with average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 24°C, though heat events can push readings higher. July and August bring the driest conditions of the year, and wildfire smoke from interior BC occasionally reduces air quality during these months. The community experiences notable transitional weather, including morning fog in autumn, strong gap winds through local inlets, and a distinct wet season that runs roughly from October to April. Microclimates vary considerably depending on elevation and proximity to the mountains.
