Winters are mild and wet, with average temperatures generally ranging from around 3°C to 8°C between December and February. Snowfall is infrequent and rarely accumulates significantly at sea level, though brief snow events do occur, sometimes accompanied by Arctic outflow winds that funnel cold air westward through the Fraser Valley. Rain dominates the winter months, with November through January being particularly grey and damp, and freezing rain can occasionally develop when cold continental air meets milder Pacific moisture. Summers in Kitsilano are warm and relatively dry, with average temperatures typically ranging from 18°C to 23°C between June and August, occasionally reaching the upper 20s during heat events. The neighbourhood's position along English Bay makes it one of Vancouver's sunnier and more temperate pockets, sheltered from some of the heavier rainfall that affects areas farther north and east.
