Fraser Lake sits within British Columbia's sub-boreal spruce zone, experiencing a continental subarctic climate characterized by cold, snowy winters and relatively warm summers. Winter temperatures typically range from around -10°C to -20°C, with periods of intense cold occasionally pushing overnight lows below -30°C during Arctic outflow events. Snowfall is reliable and persistent, generally accumulating from November through March, with the surrounding Nechako Plateau landscape remaining blanketed in snow for much of the season. Freezing fog can settle over the lake and lowlands during prolonged cold spells, reducing visibility significantly. Summers in Fraser Lake are short but pleasantly warm, with daytime highs commonly reaching 20°C to 26°C between June and August. Precipitation is modest and relatively evenly distributed, though the region experiences a drier tendency in mid-to-late summer. As part of central BC's interior, Fraser Lake communities are increasingly familiar with wildfire smoke during July and August, as regional fire activity can reduce air quality and obscure the surrounding forested hills.
