Winters are mild and persistently wet, with temperatures typically ranging from around 0°C to 6°C at sea level. The community is occasionally affected by Arctic outflow events, when cold continental air funnels southward through the Coast Mountain gaps, bringing sharp temperature drops, gusty northerly winds, and brief but significant cold snaps along the Howe Sound corridor.
